“I am indeed happy to have my family and friends here who are going to support me to carry on this big task for the next one year,” she said.

Lizzy,  who is also the former Lady Captain of Parkland Golf Resort and immediate past Vice president of African Women in Leadership,  said that Rotary Club of Abuja-Aso Golf is so unique because it is the only Rotary club in a golfing community in the whole of Nigeria.

She said her goal was to bring all golfers on board to be a Rotarian, adding that the Rotary Club was  a place to be.

“I am privileged to lead as the 4th President of this unique club.

“I intend to organise a  golf and tennis tournaments during my tenure. Since we are here, the essence is to bring all golfers on board.

“In Rotary, we have a theme for every month. Last month was membership, and we are trying to recruit all golfers here to be a Rotarian because Rotary is a place to be,” she said.

Some of the guests at the event who spoke to newsmen on the sidelines of the event described Asomugha’s election as a well-deserved vote due to her exceptional dedication, diligence, and unwavering commitment to the values and mission of the club.

Senator Abaribe said her election of the prestigious position was a clear indication of her dedication to service and her outstanding leadership qualities, which she had exhibited over the years.

“I was introduced to Lizzy by the late Sen. Uchechukwumerije a long time ago because she was related to him, and we have always related very well.

“So, I have no doubt that given her abilities and the fact that she is a “magic maker” as she is fondly called, we believe that she is going to do very well,” he said.

The former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, said he was confident that her leadership would no doubt bring new energy and vision to the club as a result of her past achievements and capabilities.

“Ulunma was my junior in Baze University where we both read Law. She is extremely brilliant and has three degrees already,

“She is currently studying LLM in a foreign university, so that tells you how brilliant and focused she is.

“She also comes with humility and a capacity to bring people together and ensure that tasks are carried out,” he said.

Makosi Musambasi, a Zimbabwean, and the Image chair of the club, said that all hands must be on deck to support Lizzy and ensure that her one year tenure is a successful one.

“She has a board, and we are all hands in and fit in to help her succeed.

“It is important to us that she succeeds because her success is also our success,” she said(NAN)
