The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has called on the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to launch an investigation into a controversial leaked memo, purportedly from the Zamfara State Government.

The memo, which has been widely circulated, allegedly approved dealings with high-profile bandits and influential individuals.

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, while appearing on a television program, dismissed the memo as a forgery.

He stated that the document had undergone analysis, and certain individuals involved in its creation would face legal action.

During a press briefing in Abuja, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, National President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, stressed the need for a thorough investigation due to the potential national security implications.

According to Okwu, the memo should not be overlooked.

Okwu further expressed concerns about the handling of the situation, urging Governor Lawal to focus on governance and address the security challenges facing Zamfara State.

He emphasized that national security should take precedence over political disagreements.

“We believe this issue requires the attention of the ONSA, as it involves matters of national security. It is crucial that this document is investigated thoroughly, and appropriate actions are taken based on the findings,” Okwu said.

In addition, Okwu commended the Nigerian Army and security agencies for their recent efforts in combating banditry and terrorism.

He highlighted that the progress made in addressing insecurity brings hope to Nigerians.

The Ohanaeze youth president also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remain vigilant and ensure that progress in the fight against insecurity is not undermined by any individuals seeking to derail the efforts.

He said the call for an investigation underscores the youth group’s commitment to national security while advocating for effective governance at all levels of government.
