Kwara Holds Peaceful LG Poll

Local government election was yesterday held across Kwara State under a peaceful atmosphere.

Though the exercise was characterized by late arrival of election materials, residents however, came out in large number to elect their chairmen and councillors across the 16 local government areas of the state.

Voters came out as early as 8:am for accreditation and subsequent voting in the 193 wards of the state. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq urged people of the state to be peaceful, expressing satisfaction with the peaceful conduct during the poll.

AbdulRazaq spoke after casting his vote at polling unit 004, Idigba, Adewole ward in Ilorin West local government area of the state at 10.47am.

He urged the people to sustain the harmony which the state is known for, saying election should not be a war.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the turnout of voters, saying he was delighted seeing voters conducting themselves in orderly manner as he drove from the Government House to his Idigba family house in downtown Ilorin, the state capital.
