A former member of the House of Representatives and former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Omosede Igbinedion has described the Edo State Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo as a grassroots politician who is abreast with the yearnings of the people.

Igbinedion, in a congratulatory message, hailed Senator Okpebholo for emerging victorious in the September 21, governorship election, saying the mandate was divine and represented the will of the people.

The former lawmaker recently joined the APC by breaking away from her traditional PDP family lineage to support Senator Okpebholo and Hon. Idahosa.

Igbinedion expressed joy that the “Ovia Agenda” she pushed for has finally come to fruition.

She said the two legislators, from rural backgrounds, would best pilot the affairs of the state.

“Senator Okpebholo’s victory is a testament to his humility, effort, respect and commitment to the people of Edo State. I am elated that “A New Edo is rising”, in the words of Senator Monday Okpebholo,” the former lawmaker said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo winner of the Saturday’s election after scoring 291,667 votes to defeat Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who garnered 247,274 votes, and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata, who got 22,763 votes.
