The Alabura Model Primary and Junior Secondary School in Gombe, constructed under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is a testament to the governor’s commitment to revamping education in the state.

The school boasts 36 modern classrooms, a state-of-the-art computer laboratory, a well-equipped library, VIP toilets, volleyball and basketball courts, a spacious staff room, and 11 administrative offices. This is one of the many schools built by the governor since he assumed office in 2019.

One of the most compelling indicators of Gombe’s revival under Governor Inuwa Yahaya is the remarkable transformation of its education sector. When he took office, the state was among the lowest in educational performance across Nigeria, with less than 30% of secondary school students passing their exams. By 2023, this figure had surged to distinction levels, driven by targeted investments and sweeping reforms. Governor Inuwa Yahaya didn’t just declare a state of emergency in education—he backed it with substantial resources, constructing new schools, including mega facilities, upgrading existing ones, and implementing far-reaching programmes that have brought over 350,000 out-of-school children back into the educational system.
