The African Women Conference (AWC) in collaboration with the Centre for Gender Studies of the Nasarawa State University , Keffi (NSUK) has graduated the first cohort of 20 women from the Class of 2023 with awards of Diploma and Certificates in Women Development Studies.
The event, done in collaboration with the AWC ‘s Leadership Development Centre took place on Tuesday at the exhibition pavilion beside the ICC, Abuja.
African Women Conference co-convener Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, who chaired the event in her welcome address, described the graduation as a milestone as the programme has become a beacon of hope and empowerment aimed at fostering women’s leadership skills.
In her remarks, the university’s Director of gender studies, Dr. Hauwa’u Mainoma, said the three-month course at the Centre is aimed at helping women stand out and equipping them with essential knowledge to be self-reliant and excellent entrepreneurs.
NSUK vice chancellor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, represented by Prof. Theophilus Lagi, Prof. Bala Suleiman Mohammed, former VC NSUK, and chairperson AWC He4She Committee all spoke on the advantages of investing in women.
The graduands were presented with the diploma and certificate scrolls even as they promised to put all they have learnt into good use.
