A former minister of defence, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd)  has threatened to sue the founder and president of the Holiness Revival Ministry Worldwide, Pastor Paul Rika, for allegedly defaming his character in a book.

Rika is the author of a book recently published with the title, “God’s message to the Kuteb tribe and indigenes of Taraba State”.

The former minister is demanding N1 billion as damages from the preacher, saying the book portrayed him as a “wicked, mischievous, evil and anti-democratic person.”

A letter addressed to Rika by Danjuma’s solicitor, Tayo Oyetibo, demanded retraction of the publication.

The lawyer said remedies being sought include the defendants to within 90 days, print, publish, and distribute a second edition of the book and apologise to Danjuma for all the “false statements published concerning him in the first edition.

In a memorandum made available to journalists on Friday, the retired general’s lawyer said his attention was drawn to the book by some of his mentees who read it.

He said some pages of the book impugned his character, ridiculed him among his friends and also jeopardised his businesses nationally and internationally.

Danjuma said the book’s statements were reckless, ill-advised, and highly defamatory of him, without any respect for his hard-earned reputation in Taraba and Nigeria at large.
