The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee members and other party leaders have arrived in Akure, Ondo State capital, to kick off the governorship campaign of its candidate, Agboola Ajayi, marking the beginning of the opposition party’s campaign for the November 16 election.

The embattled acting national chairman of the party, Ambassador Illiya Damagun, led the PDP NWC members and other chieftains, including governors elected on the platform of the party, to Akure on Tuesday.

PDP said its governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi, was poised to leverage on the additional momentum to connect with voters and amplify the party’s message to the people of Ondo State.

“His leadership experience, economic vision and grassroots support make a compelling case for his candidacy and our success in the coming election,” the PDP stated via its Facebook page.

LEADERSHIP reports that the PDP Governors Forum led by Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, had earlier before departing the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja for Ondo State on Tuesday morning, told journalists that Damagum remained the acting national chairman of the party, insisting that status quo remained.
