Chairman of Air Peace Allen Onyema has said that the Nigerian aviation industry is progressing despite global turbulence following the COVID-19 pandemic.

He disclosed this to the State House correspondents on Tuesday after meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa.

Despite these worldwide hurdles, Onyema pointed to encouraging developments within Nigeria.

He said, “Aviation worldwide has been turbulent since COVID because of supply chain issues.

“This is not peculiar to Nigeria, but the Nigerian government is listening to us and ensuring the ease of doing business in the sector is back.

“I have just had a session with the Vice President, and everything he said is that the government is promoting the ease of doing business.”

“I can testify that the government is promoting the ease of business, especially in aviation.

The Air Peace chairman particularly commended Festus Keyamo’s efforts, likely referring to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

While acknowledging progress, Onyema also outlined ongoing challenges, explicitly mentioning “numerous charges” faced by airlines.

However, he expressed confidence in the government’s willingness to address these issues.

“We are here also to thank the government because they have been giving us listening ears, and we want more of that, to make sure all those numerous charges we face are removed, and we have every confidence that the government will do something about it,” he added.
