Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has been nominated for the prestigious Best Security Conscious State Governor Award by Africa Security Watch. Africa Security Watch is an international organisation focused on enhancing security awareness and addressing contemporary security challenges across Africa.

The award will be presented to the Governor during the 18th Africa Security Watch Awards & Conference from December 10th to 12th, 2024, in Doha, Qatar.

The event, organised in partnership with Stellenbosch University, South Africa, is a premier international platform celebrating outstanding achievements in governance, leadership, security, safety, transport, and environmental sustainability.

It provides a forum for networking, exchange of ideas, and fostering collaboration among experts and stakeholders from across the continent.

According to the organisers, Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s nomination recognizes his innovative and impactful leadership in safeguarding lives and property in Gombe State and Nigeria at large.
The nomination letter highlights the Governor’s “innovativeness, resilience, and purposeful leadership in ensuring the protection of lives and properties in Gombe State.”

Governor Inuwa Yahaya has been invited to deliver a keynote address during the conference in addition to receiving the award.

The Governor will speak on the theme: “Developing a Module for People-Centric Governance Towards the Enhancement of Peace and Security.”

His address is expected to focus on Gombe State’s unique security approach, highlighting how the state has successfully navigated security challenges affecting neighbouring northern states, making Gombe a model of peace and stability.

Over the years, the Africa Security Watch Awards have been held in various locations, including Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, The Gambia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States of America, reflecting its growing reputation as a global forum for excellence in security and governance.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s proactive security policies have laid a solid foundation for physical and human capital development in Gombe State.

His efforts have earned him numerous recognitions, including the title of Grand Ambassador of Security and Peace in Nigeria by the Peoples Security Monitor.
