Federal Gov’t Delivers Relief Materials To Jigawa Explosion Victims

Zenith Bank Nigeria has donated N50 million to the victims of flood and the tanker explosion in Jigawa State as the federal government has also delivered relief materials to the victims.

The branch manager of Zenith Bank in Dutse, Alhaji Kabiru Adamu, presented the cheque to the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi, when he led the bank management on a sympathy/ condolence visit to Dutse Government House.

He said, the managing director and entire management of Zenith Bank extended their “heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the government, immediate family and all good people of Jigawa State on the death of over 181 people as a result of a tanker explosion at Majiya town of Taura local government area of the state.”

The manager prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and also prayed to God to give quick recovery to those who sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident.

He assured the Jigawa State government that Zenith bank would continue to be a reliable partner to the people of the state not only on commercial activities but in all aspects of life, at happy times and trying moments.

Mr Kabiru stated that the donation was given to the state government to assist the victims of the flood and the tanker explosion which occurred in the state.

Similarly, the federal government through National Commission For Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, has delivered relief materials to the Jigawa State government for onward distribution to the victims.

The federal commissioner of the commission, Alhaji Tijjani Ahmed Aliyu, presented the materials to the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi.

Mr Tijjani noted that the materials items were part of the commitment of the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu to complement the effort of the Jigawa State government in assisting the victims of the tanker explosion and control the situation in general.

According to him, the items included 200 bags each of 25 kg rice, millet and Semovita; 50 cartons each of bottle oil and seasoning (maggi); 200 pieces of mattress blanket, charcoal stoves, among others.

Speaking during the visits, the state governor said, what happened in Majiya was very devastating and would remain indelible in the history of the state.

“The sympathy visit and message we received from across the country and beyond have strengthened us in this critical moment and our faith for national unity,” the governor stated.
