According to the firm, the gesture was in a bid to reduce cancer-related deaths in the state and also detect other forms of cancer early.

At the inauguration ceremony, the managing director of TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Limited, Mr Matthieu Bouyer, observed that the project’s location was carefully chosen to have the maximum impact on the people.

He said, “This mammography centre was borne out of the need to detect breast and other forms of cancer early, reduce the fatality risk and mitigate the gaps in access to qualitative healthcare.”

Bouyer pointed out that the cancer treatment centre is a fully equipped mammography centre with a main reception and waiting area of 20-person seat- capacity, an office for a radiologist, mammography technicians’ bay and a changing room, a treatment room for image-guided breast lump biopsy with borehole installation, and a 60KVA power generator.

The IoC boss noted that, “We are committed to changing that situation, and that is why we have delivered this project which we strongly believe will provide access to affordable early diagnosis and detection, aid the prompt treatment and follow-up of patients, and ultimately save lives. As a responsible organisation, TotalEnergies will continue to contribute towards positively impacting its host communities and the nation at large, partners, and workforce through impactful initiatives.”
