The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has assured that it would commission the Bauchi 330 KVA line to enhance power supply within the state and beyond.

General manager TCN, Bauchi, Abubakar Garba Abdulaziz while speaking with journalists in Bauchi yesterday, said the Bauchi 330 KVA line would be ready for commissioning next year.

Garba emphasised the need for collaboration among key stakeholders involved in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution to ensure a reliable power supply across the nation.

He urged the support of both religious and traditional leaders to raise awareness and mobilise communities to protect the company’s facilities, thereby ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

Abdulaziz highlighted that TCN possesses the necessary workforce to operate the 27 generation stations scattered throughout the country.

He pointed out that the Bauchi regional office oversees six states in the Northeast, including Plateau, and parts of Kaduna and Kano states.
He noted, “The TCN Bauchi office boasts the largest transmission network, designed to meet the power demands and aspirations of the region’s residents.”
Furthermore, he mentioned that the federal government, in partnership with international donor organisations, is actively upgrading all facilities and transmission lines in the region to ensure a constant power supply.

Abdulaziz also expressed concern over the persistent vandalism of transmission lines and illegal encroachments on the right of way, which disrupted operational efficiency.

He appealed to state governments to assist in preventing construction and business activities within these corridors.

He called on state authorities and other key stakeholders to educate the public on the importance of protecting federal assets for the country’s overall development.

He commended local government initiatives in Yobe State, where they have engaged the Civilian Joint Task Force to monitor and prevent vandalism of transmission lines.

The meeting included attendance from TCN Bauchi management, who urged the public to be patient while the company engineers work diligently to repair damaged towers in the Kaduna region.

Their primary objective is to ensure consistent power transmission and keep the public informed.

The session concluded with a visit to the sites where new transformers are being installed, as well as the TCN control room.
