As People Living With Disabilities (PLWD) in Nigeria join their colleagues worldwide to celebrate the International Day of People Living with Disabilities, they have urged other state governments to emulate Lagos State’s blueprint for people with such challenges.

They stated this in the speeches delivered by the Coordinator of the Oshilaja Foundation, Comrade Kehinde Oshilaja, at the Alagomeji Community Centre Mosque, Lagos and  Ijo Orunmila Ato in Mainland Local Government on Friday and Four Square Gospel Church headquarters on Sunday respectfully.

He applauded Lagos State Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu for what he is doing for people living with disabilities, most importantly, the creation of the Lagos State Office of Disability Affairs (LASODA) and provision of free transportation to PWLD, free health services, and other incentives to cushion the effects of the country’s current economic hardship.

Oshilaja said, “We would love to appreciate the government of Lagos State, especially for his transformational agenda, especially with the creation of the Lagos State Office of Disability Affairs, LASODA, and for ensuring a free, subsidised health care for PLWD, as well as ensuring free transportation for members and other incentives to cushion the effects of the economic hardship in the country while appealing to other state governments to emulate Lagos State.”

PLWD also expressed their appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially for the reforms his administration is carrying out to reposition the nation’s economy. They appealed that he should do more, especially for people living with disabilities, citing severe hunger in the country.

“We would also like to express our profound love to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has done a great job reshaping the economy and our direction as a nation. However, we want to appeal to him to do more for PLWD because our country is hungry.
