NPFL: Lobi Stars Zoom Out Of Relegation, Ikorodu City Thrash Akwa Utd 4-0

Lobi Stars have provisionally climbed out of the relegation after a 1-0 home win over 10-man Kwara United at the weekend.

The Makurdi based football club are now a spot above the drop zone in 16th position with 16 points from 15 matches.

Peter Onah scored the only goal of the match in the 26th minute to ease pressure on Daniel Amokachi.

Kwara United were reduced to 10 men after 88 minutes, when Junior Almufua got a second booking.

In other NPFL match played on Bendel Insurance got back to winning ways with 2-1 victory against visiting Plateau United.

Uche Collins opened scoring for home team Insurance after just seven minutes, before Plateau United drew level on 24 minutes through Victor Dawa.

Insurance snatched the winning goal in the 66th minute through Kayode Oke.

Bendel Insurance are second bottom of the standings with 15 points from as many matches, while Plateau are a spot above them with as many points and a better goals difference.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Ikorodu City maintained their unbeaten run with a 4-0 thrashing of Akwa United, while El- Kanemi Warriors were held to a goalless draw at home by visiting Bayelsa United.

Niger Tornadoes beat Remo Stars at home 2-1, Rivers United overcome visiting Kano Pillars 1-0 in Port Harcourt while Shooting Stars thrashed Abia Warriors 2-0.
