IVD: IAWPA Honours Gov Nwifuru With Peace Ambassador Award

In a remarkable show of commitment to peace and volunteerism, the International Association of World Peace Advocates IAWPA says it will observe the International Volunteers Day (IVD) in Ebonyi State.

The event according to a press statement signed by the International Spokesman of IAWPA Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke says the association will highlight the significant role of volunteers in fostering peace and development across the globe. A key highlight will be the presentation of the prestigious Eminent Peace Ambassador Award to the governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Francis Nwifuru.

The association said Governor Nwifuru has been a steadfast advocate for peace and social cohesion since he assumed office as the state governor.

Amb. Nkweke stressed that Nwifuru’s leadership has fostered an environment that encourages dialogue and mutual respect among diverse communities within the state.

The award according to the association recognizes his exemplary efforts in promoting peace initiatives that resonate well beyond the borders of Ebonyi.

The statement said under Governor Nwifuru’s stewardship, Ebonyi State has made significant strides toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“His administration has implemented various programs focused on poverty alleviation, education, and healthcare, which are pivotal to achieving SDG targets. By prioritizing community engagement and active citizen participation, the governor has not only aimed at tangible improvements in the lives of his constituents but has also empowered local volunteers to play a significant role in these advancements” the statement said

Moreover, the governor’s commitment to peacebuilding has been evident in various initiatives aimed at reducing conflict and promoting reconciliation among communities.

“His proactive approach includes establishing forums for dialogue and creating peace committees that address grievances and foster understanding”

“As the International Association of World Peace Advocates gathers to honor the contributions of volunteers and acknowledge impactful leaders like Governor Nwifuru, we are reminded of the vital role that peace plays in facilitating sustainable development”

The association said the observance will serve as a platform to inspire others to engage in volunteerism and contribute to building a more peaceful and just society.

According to the state PRO, Amb. EZEOLUA JUSTICE ADINDU said that the event promises to be a celebration of shared values, commitment to peace, and a call to action for every citizen to contribute toward a better future.

“It is an opportunity for all volunteer organizations in Ebonyi to key into the global vision” he added.
