Former minister of Sports and Special Duties, Prof Taoheed Adedoja, has mourned the demise of Late Sheik Muhidden Ajani Bello, Alhaji Muhideen Bello, saying he will be remembered for his preaching, stand for the common man and philanthropic activities.
The Ibadan-born popular Islamic preacher, Sheik Muyideen Ajani Bello, died at the age of 84.
The renowned preacher passed away in the early hours of Friday at his Akobo Estate in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In a statement mourning the demise of the revered cleric, Adedoja said he has lost a friend, brother, guardian and confidant.
The former Dean of the Faculty of Education, Bayero University Kano, said their upbringing in adherence to the tenets of Islam was a major bond between his late parents and Sheik Muhidden Ajani Bello.
His statement read in part, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un! I have lost a friend, brother, guardian and confidant.
“Our upbringing in adherence to the tenets of Islam has been a major bond between my late parents and Late Sheik Muhidden Ajani Bello, dating back to our membership of the Ansar Udeen Islamic Society in Kano since the 60s. Although far older than me, he never allowed this to exhibit in our relationship.
“A great islamic cleric, Alhaji Muhideen Bello will be remembered for his preachings, stands for the common man and for his philanthropic activities. May Allah accept him in aljanatul firdaus and comfort loved ones and the Muslim Community at large. Amin,’’ he said.
