The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has emphasised the need for a robust synergy between technology and creativity to shape Nigeria’s digital future.

This call was the highlight of the recently concluded Tech Convergence 1.0 conference and exhibition, held in Lagos under the theme “Innovating Nigeria’s Digital Future Through Tech & Creativity.” The event brought together stakeholders from across the public and private sectors to chart the path toward a thriving digital ecosystem.

Delivering the keynote, NiRA president Adesola Akinsanya underscored the pivotal role of domain names and IP addresses in the digital economy, framing them as foundational elements for innovation. He highlighted the immense potential of combining technology and creativity to solve complex challenges and position Nigeria as a global leader in digital transformation.

“Nigeria is a nation brimming with untapped creative potential and technological talent. Together, we can unlock new possibilities and inspire innovations that elevate our digital economy,” Akinsanya remarked.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Ifeanyi Frank Ogochukwu, described the conference as a milestone in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. He stressed the importance of collaboration between industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators, noting its potential to foster solutions tailored to the Nigerian market.“For example, Nigerian artisans can leverage e-commerce platforms powered by .ng domains to showcase their work globally,” Ogochukwu explained.

NiRA’s board of trustees chairperson, Ibukun Odusote, echoed these sentiments, emphasising the role of creativity driven by cultural uniqueness and entrepreneurial spirit. She envisioned a future where technology powers education access, enriches the creative industries, and enhances global digital content, all within a secure environment.

“Through platforms like Tech Convergence 1.0, we can inspire groundbreaking solutions, promote digital inclusion, and empower the next generation of tech leaders and creative thinkers,” Odusote stated in her goodwill message.
