Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Interior, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, has refuted allegations made by Alhaji Abdullahi Musawa that he has abandoned his constituency.
In a press statement signed by his special assistant on media, Sardauna Francis, the lawmaker described the claims as “frivolous and baseless,” adding that they stem from a campaign of misinformation.
The statement highlighted Hon. Ahmed’s commitment to his constituents in the Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency, citing numerous initiatives and interventions that have positively impacted the lives of residents.
According to the state following a bandit attack on the Rugan Kusa community in Musawa Local Government Area, Ahmed was commended for visiting the victims despite the precarious security situation.
The statement also said the lawmaker extended his support by donating millions of naira to assist affected families in Rugan Kusa, Yar Ungwa, and Gidan Malamai.
“Recently, Hon. Ahmed distributed N35 million in non-refundable business grants to 70 constituents, each receiving N500,000 to bolster their entrepreneurial venture, adding that he provided 100 tricycle-wheelchairs to people living with disabilities, further demonstrating his dedication to inclusivity and empowerment.”
The statement accused Musawa of being motivated by personal grievances, referencing a past incident where the lawmaker reportedly intervened financially to resolve a family dispute involving Musawa.
The statement reaffirmed Hon. Ahmed’s unwavering dedication to his constituency, vowing that he will not be deterred by what it described as “ungodly and inhuman” fabrications.
