Prominent player in the digital broadcasting and communications sectors, the Multimesh Group, has demonstrated a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) with its latest initiative, which focuses on the Rivers community.

According to the group, the programme, which coincides with the organisation’s 30th anniversary, seeks to revitalise the local ecosystem, improve education, and empower local businesses.

As part of activities to commemorate three decades of doing business in the Rivers State community, the founder and CEO of Multimesh Group, Sir Godfrey Nnamdi Ohuabunwa, rolled out the drums to give back to the community that has given him so much.

Ohuabunwa, also took the time to unveil high-quality classroom desks for the newly renovated Crowther Memorial Primary and Secondary Schools in Rumuobiakani, Port Harcourt.

The Multimesh CEO thanked the community and religious leaders before presenting the desks and chairs to the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Evo, Rt. Rev Innocent Ordu, for dedication in the presence of Rumuobiakani Town’s Paramount Ruler, Eze Samuel Nyeche Ejims.

This was followed by a Community Novelty Match between Rumuobiakani and Rumuogba towns in Obiakpo Local Government Areas to commemorate Multimesh’s anniversary.

Ohuabunwa, a devout Anglican, explained that after his humble beginnings and the establishment of the Multimesh Group, which has grown into a large Broadcasting, Communications, and Multimedia outfit, the Group had no choice but to give back to the communities to positively impact them.

Ohuabunwa also revealed that approximately 20 years ago, the company had to enroll over 50 students in its scholarship programme. Some of the students who benefited from the programme are now graduates and doing well, while others are evaluated annually and offered scholarships based on their needs.

He explained that the company does not discriminate against any religion and that some Muslim and impoverished students are currently benefiting from some of the assistance initiatives.

Ohuabunwa confirmed that Multimesh is based on social enterprise because he believes in giving back to society. Furthermore, Multimesh owns over five FM radio stations in Abuja, Umuahia, Enugu, and Port Harcourt, as well as licenses in Bayelsa, Imo, and two other states.

As part of the 30th anniversary, Ohuabunwa, the Ugwu Aro of Arochukwu, will also be bestowed with the chieftaincy title of Eze Omenu’ OHA 1 of Rumuogba Kingdom by the King of Rumuogba Kingdom, Dr Temple N Ejekwu, the Eze Ogba Iji -Nu – Ede, the Paramount Ruler (Nyenwe -Eli of Rumuogba Kingdom) in Obioakpo Local Area of Rivers State. The conferment ceremony is scheduled for this weekend at the Ezes Palace, Old Aba Road, Rumuogba, Port Harcourt.
