The director-general of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has described Ademola Lookman’s coronation as the 2024 CAF Player of the Year as a well-deserved victory that will ignite positive momentum for Nigerian sports.

Olopade hailed both Super Falcons and Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for winning the Women’s Team of the year and Women’s goalkeeper of the year award respectively.

He said the triumph of both Lookman and Nnadozie serve as an inspiration for upcoming athletes and aligns with the nation’s renewed vision for sports development under the current administration.

“It was a good night for Nigerian football in general with our male and female players winning individual awards and the women national team also winning the best women team of the year”.

“Lookman’s win cannot be questioned, as he rose above all his peers on the continent,” Olopade stated.

Olopade, in a statement by his SA on media, Kola Daniel, emphasized that Lookman’s achievement is a reflection of hard work, consistency, and the limitless potential of Nigerian athletes on the global stage.

He stressed that “Nnadozie feat has once again motivated the Commission to pay more attention to the empowerment of more women participation in Sports”.
