Plateau State Police Command has restricted movement in five local government areas of the State in order to ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The affected local government areas are Mangu, Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Bassa.

A statement issued in Jos by the Command’s spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo, on Tuesday, also said all nightclubs and mining activities within the affected LGAs were also banned for the period.

“All liquor bars will operate within morning hours to 6:00pm. The Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command Emmanuel Adesina will deploy enough Police personnel both in uniform and plain clothes to operate within this festive period,” he stated.

The statement further advised parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against the use of fireworks within, adding that anyone found breaching the order will be arrested and prosecuted.
