A former Commissioner for Information in Kwara State and one-time general manager of State-owned newspaper, The Herald, Alh AbdulRaheem Adisa, is dead.

Adisa died in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 91.

The remains of Adisa, who was also one-time executive chairman of Moro local government area council, have been interred at the Muslim Cemetery, Osere, Ilorin according to Islamic injunctions.

Eminent journalists including two former chief press secretaries to Kwara State Ggvernors, Alh. Nurudeen AbdulRaheem and Alh Mas’ud Adebimpe, and the state chairman of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Alh Tunde Akanbi, were at the cemetery to pay their last respects to their departed colleague.

The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has also commiserated with the family of the late veteran journalist.

In a condolence message signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor recalled that Adisa was a veteran in the media industry where he made huge contributions, especially as a former staff member of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

AbdulRazaq commiserated with the media community in the state, and especially The Herald Newspaper, and with his family.

He asked Allah to admit Adisa to Al-jannah Firdaus and console the family with His mercies.

The chairman of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), AbdulLateef Ahmed, described the death of Adisa as painful.

He recalled the deceased’s invaluable contributions to the media industry and the growth of the NUJ in the state.
