The Kano State Government has been thrown into mourning following the death of the newly appointed Special Adviser on Works to Governor Abba Yusuf, Engr. Ahmad Ishaq Bunkure, on Tuesday, barely 24 hours after his swearing-in.
Spokesperson to the governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement on Wednesday morning, confirmed the passing of Bunkure in an Egyptian hospital.
LEADERSHIP reports that the late adviser was amongst the newly appointed aides and Commissioners sworn in by Governor Yusuf on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Governor Yusuf, in his condolence message, described the late adviser as a committed professional whose expertise was expected to contribute significantly to the administration’s development agenda.
“This is a heartbreaking moment for us as a government. Engr. Bunkure was a dedicated professional whose expertise and contributions were expected to drive our administration’s vision for development. His loss is deeply felt,” the governor was quoted as saying in the statement.
He further extended sympathies to the family of the deceased and prayed for Allah’s mercy on him and strengthen his loved ones to bear the loss.
