Kogi State commissioner for health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, has reiterated the current administration’s commitment to primary healthcare and the development of human resources within the health sector.
According to the public relations officer of the ministry, Dorothy Onoja, the commissioner emphasised the need to improve the healthcare infrastructure and attract more doctors and healthcare professionals to the state.
Highlighting key achievements of the ministry, he noted improvements in primary healthcare, enhancement of human resources through training initiatives and development of healthcare infrastructure.
He underscored the importance of effective risk communication and community engagement in disease prevention and health promotion.
Other achievements of the ministry in the period under review include free hydrocele surgery for community members, provision of Vitamin A supplements for 720,000 children and anti-malaria drugs and supplements for 200,000 pregnant women.
He maintained that the establishment of KGSHIA Rapid Respond Desk units in eight accredited health facilities further demonstrated the ministry’s commitment to excellence.
