The University of Ilorin will inaugurate some N50 billion projects during its 50th anniversary.
The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), disclosed this while unveiling the logo for the institution’s 50th anniversary.
Egbewole said the billion-naira projects would be inaugurated during the anniversary to showcase some of the university’s achievements.
He added that the anniversary was designed to showcase the university’s achievements in development, research, and community service since its establishment in 1975.
He said that the planned activities for the celebration would also serve as a homecoming for members of the university’s alumni association.
Egbewole said that the university management was working hard to ensure the actualisation of the institution’s strategic plan, which aimed to take the institution to greater heights.
He said the 2024 to 2028 strategic plan is a work in progress to place the university on the right pedestal, adding that “we are poised to get to the next level of research, infrastructure, and good community engagement.
He said an innovation hub, among other projects, that would be commissioned during the 50th anniversary celebration had been implemented to help drive the students’ initiative.
He noted that the university was working hard to overcome its challenges and produce graduates who would be employers of labour.
Egbewole urged alumni association members to support the institution towards achieving better growth and development.
In his remarks, Prof. Olugbenga Mukuolu, chairman of the 50th anniversary ceremonial committee, said the logo was designed to better express the university’s aspirations.
