As of early 2024, Nigeria’s internet penetration rate is approximately 45.5%, with about 103 million internet users reported at that time. This marks a slight increase from 55.4% in early 2023, indicating fluctuations in user engagement and access. Despite being ranked 11th globally for internet penetration, Nigeria still faces challenges related to network readiness and infrastructure

Over the past decade, Nigeria’s internet penetration has seen significant fluctuations. In 2015, the rate was around 28%, increasing to 51% by 2022. However, it peaked at 55.4% in early 2023 before declining to 45.5% in early 2024. Factors influencing these changes include infrastructure investments, mobile access growth, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which initially boosted user numbers due to increased online activity during lockdowns
