Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has called on a Chinese farm equipment manufacturer, LOVOL, to consider setting up workshops and training centres in Nasarawa State.
Governor Sule said doing so would be in line with his administration’s strides to revolutionize agricultural practices in the state to improve food security and create jobs.
The governor is currently on a week-long working visit at the invitation of LOVOL Heavy Industries Company Ltd., a leading tractor and farm equipment producer.
LOVOL is also a reputable producer of rice harvesters, the like of which was used at the state owned rice farm in Jangwa, Awe local government area of the state.
Speaking during a meeting with company officials in Weifang, China, Governor Sule said Nasarawa’s fertile arable land, teeming youth population, and availability of technology would further drive the ongoing agricultural revolution in the state.
He said his vision extends beyond equipment procurement to having service centres that will also help with training and retraining of citizens of the state.
In his remarks, the leader of the LOVOL delegation said the company’s interest in setting up in the state is anchored on the seriousness exhibited by the state as an agricultural hub.
He expressed LOVOL’s strong desire to partner with the Nasarawa State government.
Governor Sule, after the meetings, inspected several technology-driven harvesters and other equipment at the factory.
While in China, he is also expected to interact with another Chinese company that is constructing a factory in Gudi that will convert cassava to starch and other allied products.
