5,500 Registered For Free Eye Treatment In Jigawa

The Jigawa State government, in collaboration with donor partners and community organisations, including Saudi Diasporas and  Horizon Foundation For Community Development, has flagged off free eye treatment for 5,500 patients in the state.

Speaking at the exercise’s flagging off at Dutse General Hospital, Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi said the programme was part of his government’s commitment to ensure access to basic healthcare services for everyone in the state, regardless of geographical location or economic status.

Governor Namadi, who was represented by his technical adviser on education, Dr Binta Babura, said the beneficiaries were selected from across the 27 local government areas of the state.

He noted that access to basic healthcare for everyone in the state is part of his 12-point agenda. In pursuing this agenda, the government is always ready to collaborate with local and international partners, individuals, and public or private organisations to achieve the desired goals.

“As you can see, the free eye treatment we offer today is sponsored by Saudi Diaspora, a group facilitated by Horizon Foundation, hosted and coordinated by the state government.”

“We are hoping that the free treatment exercises will restore to beneficiaries their sight by addressing their various eye problem,

“The Jigawa State government thanks all the partners and collaborators involved in this humanitarian exercise.
In his speech, the secretary of Horizon Foundation For Community Development, Alhaji Salisu Isa Galadanci, said 5,500 were screened and registered to benefit from the gesture.

According to him, 500 beneficiaries will undergo Eye Cataract surgery,1,000 will get medical eye glasses, and 4,000 will receive drugs and other related medication.
