Insecurity: Buni Assures Army Of Additional Support To End Insurgency

Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has assured the Nigerian Army and other security agencies of his administration’s continued support in the fight against insurgency in the state.

Governor Buni gave the assurance on Sunday in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital when the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede paid him a courtesy call at the Government House.

Buni commended the military for its commitment to the security being currently enjoyed across the state.

He stressed that the 17 local government areas of the state are accessible with the people moving around in pursuit of their legitimate businesses.

“The security attained across the state affords the government the opportunity to execute its policies and programmes to improve the lives of our people unhindered,” Buni said.

He also called for increased patrol along the borders to check possible infiltration of insurgents targeting soft and isolated targets.

On his response, the COAS assured the Governor of the Army’s commitment to the end insurgency and banditry in Nigeria.

According to him, “lt is my personal ambition to see the end of this menace as fast as possible, and call for support from our political leaders and Nigerians to achieve this goal.”

He further assured that he will deploy his knowledge and personal experience “when l served here in Yobe State to see the end of insurgency.”

Gen. Oluyede commended the Yobe State Government for its support to the Army, and called for more support to fast-track the end of insurgency.
