Lakurawa Bandits Kill 1, Injure 6 In Kebbi Village

Members of the Lakurawa sect have attacked Gulma Village in Argungu local government area of Kebbi State, killing one person and injuring six others.

This was confirmed to LEADERSHIP Weekend by the chairman of Argungu council, Hon. Aliyu Sani Gulma in a telephone interview yesterday.

Gulma said the terrorists attacked the village at 11.00pm on Thursday while the residents were asleep.
He said, “During the attack, they shot seven people, one of them died while six others sustained serious injuries. Four of them have been admitted at the federal medical facility in Birnin Kebbi while the remaining two are receiving treatment in their houses.”

According to Gulma, when the bandits that the villagers were set to retaliate the attack, they quickly flee the area to the forest for safety.

Gulma said he had reported the incident to the security agencies for necessary action, adding that troops had been sent to the area to protect the people and their property.

When contacted, the Kebbi State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafi’u Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, said mobile policemen had been dispatched to the area.
