One of the key media supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Comrade Faruk Shehu, has expressed dismay over the manner in which the party is being managed in the state.

He noted that if care is not taken to unite major stakeholders, President Bola Tinubu could risk losing the 2027 election in the state.

Comrade Shehu who stated this yesterday in Abuja, maintained that the party’s leaders in the state have not included some of the key stakeholders who significantly contributed to the success of President Tinubu and the state governor in the 2023 elections, particularly Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba who represented the Sokoto South Senatorial District in the 8th and 9th Senate, and Senator Ibrahim Lamido, currently representing Sokoto East Senatorial District.

He highlighted Senator Danbaba’s crucial role in securing APC’s victory in the state, leveraging his personal resources and experience to ensure the party’s success.

According to him, despite his substantial contributions, Senator Danbaba has however been sidelined at both the state and federal levels.

Comrade Shehu further stated that Senator Danbaba’s experience warrants him a ministerial appointment, which was not granted. “Additionally, none of his supporters were appointed as commissioners, special advisers or local government chairmen despite his significant contribution, accounting for approximately 45 percent of the votes secured by the party in the 2023 elections.”

Comrade Shehu warned the party leaders not to allow Senator Danbaba to leave the APC as this would likely lead to the party’s defeat in the 2027 elections due to his substantial grassroots support, particularly in Sokoto South Senatorial District.

He urged the national chairman of the party, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to take immediate action to address the situation and grant Senator Danbaba the recognition he deserves.

According to Comrade Shehu, if urgent measures are not taken to resolve the crisis, Senator Danbaba’s supporters may stage a peaceful protest to demand changes in the party’s management within the state.
