The Social Studies Education Postgraduate Students’ Association of Nigeria (SSPSAN), University of Abuja Chapter, has pledged support for President Bola Tinubu and other political candidates in the 2027 general elections following the nomination of one of its members, Hon. Julius Adamu, as chairman of the FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB).
The association announced its position at a press conference in Abuja yesterday, where its chairman, Comrade Yakubu Muhammed Billa, thanked the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for nominating Adamu for the position.
Billa said the nomination had encouraged association members, adding that Adamu’s educational background and administrative experience made him well-suited for the appointment.
He said Adamu obtained a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Abuja between 2009 and 2014 and had experience in both the private and public sectors.
The association also expressed confidence that Adamu would contribute to the administration of basic education in the FCT if his appointment is confirmed.
As part of its response to the nomination, the group pledged to support Tinubu’s re-election bid and the candidacies of Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda for the FCT senatorial seat, John Gabaya for the Abuja North Federal Constituency and Danladi Chiya for the Abuja South Federal Constituency.
Billa said the association had begun grassroots mobilisation across the FCT to canvass support for the candidates.
