Police Arrest Housewife For Alleged Killing Co-wife In Bauchi

A 28-year-old housewife, Fatima Mohammed has been accused of killing her co-wife, a 20-year-old Hajara Isa at the Anguwan Sarakuna area of Bauchi metropolis.

The incident reportedly occurred at her matrimonial home on February 28, 2025.

LEADERSHIP recalls that incidences of killing or homicide have for sometimes been happening in Bauchi, thereby drawing the attention of stakeholders and security agencies.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi Command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

“On March 3, 2025, one Sale Isa of Anguwan Sarakuna area Bauchi reported the incident to police operatives, raising suspicions regarding the circumstances surrounding Hajara’s passing which family members have indicated that they believe her co-wife may have a role in the incident,” CSP Wakil said in the statement.
He added that the Command was actively pursuing an in-depth investigation into the matter.

The PPRO explained that the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Auwal Muhammad has promptly assigned a specialised team of detectives from the C Divisional Police Headquarters to thoroughly investigate the case.

The efforts, according to the PPRO, have already resulted in the arrest of the suspect. Fatima Mohammed, who is currently in police custody.

“Preliminary findings suggest that Fatima Mohammed is implicated in Hajara’s death. During her questioning, she reportedly admitted to have strangulate her to death, and thereafter attempted to conceal the crime by pouring boiled water on her and burning her body with a melting BagCo sack”, CSP Wakil said.

The statement assured of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice in the case, saying that investigation will be referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to guarantee a thorough and impartial interrogation.

“CP Auwal Musa Muhammad has assembled a team of experienced homicide detectives to gather all relevant information, including allegations and insights from various sources regarding Hajara Isa’s death,” the PPRO assured.
