The 11-year-old victim, LEADERSHIP learnt, who is a Junior Secondary School 2 (JSS2) pupil of Comprehensive High School (CHS), Ndiya, in Nsit Ubium local government area of the State, got the machete attack in lieu of escaping being flogged by his computer teacher.

A teacher, who would not want his name in print, recalled seeing “the teacher and the young pupil in an argument over a minor offence that should have attracted minor punishment of canning, picking pieces of papers or cutting a portion of grass.”

“But, the computer teacher, resorted to attacking the pupil who had since been hospitalised over a deep machete cut to his wrist inflicted after he succeeded in escaping the flogging,” he added.

“The same teacher is notorious for inflicting machete cuts and attacking students with a knife within the school premises, and the school authority has been ignoring his excesses until this one after the parents had threatened petition,” Affiong Bassey, a resident of the community and neighbour to the school, stated.

“The case has been investigated, concluded and handed over to the Court, that’s what I can say for now since the matter is already before the court,” he stressed.
