Bauchi Approves N3.6bn To Equip New Int’l Conference Centre

The Bauchi State Executive Council has approved the sum of N3, 689, 707, 481.34 for the purpose of furnishing the new Bauchi International Confederate Centre and installing fittings ahead of its commissioning.

According to the state Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Rt. Hon. Danlami Kawule, the approval covers the Governor’s Banquet Hall, wall paneling, lightening, sound and multimedia, ICC Internet and Intercom.

Kawule who was briefing journalists on the outcomes of the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, said the state government planned to have the International Conference Centre (ICC) ready before the State Investment Summit slated for June this year.

The commissioner disclosed other approvals of the Council under his ministry to inlcude the construction and remodeling of residence of the first civilian governor of the state, Late Abubakar Tatari Ali, as well as the Late Abubakar Tafawa Balewa tomb, library, Islamiyya School and a mosque.

The council similarly approved the sum of N1.9 billion for construction, reconstruction, repairs, and other infrastructural facilities provision, and erosion control mechanism across 44 rural communities ravaged by last year’s flooding in the state.

Also, Commissioner for Special Duties and Rural Development, Hon. Farouk Mustapha explained that six roads construction projects which contracts were awarded last year have reached different stages of completion.

He added however, that 12 new roads projects have been added to the 2025 Rural Access Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) work plan.

Hon. Mustapha recalled that $33.7million was approved last year for the RAAM projects in 19 states of the federation, when eventually the World Bank jerked the RAAM projects’ cost to $600 million to cover the 36 states of the federation and FCT.

The commissioner who disclosed that letters of contract awards for the additional 12 roads will be available to the verified contractors, explained that Bauchi State is now waiting for its nominal funds allocation from the $600 million for the RAAM projects.
