The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker representing Aba North State constituency said he had also brought the matter before the House during plenary as a Matter of Urgent Public Importance.

“Following this, the House passed a resolution urging the Ministry of Works, the State Universal Basic Education Board, and other relevant agencies to take immediate action on the matter,” the lawmaker said.

He added that, “The resolution required them to prioritise the safety of the pupils, students, and the infrastructure by building speed breakers close to the entrance and a perimeter fence around the school.”

On the hike in electricity tariff in the state, he noted that the committee had invited stateholders in the industry, and the chairmen of both Aba and Umuahia Landlords Association for a meeting next week.

He said the stakeholders are the managing directors of Geometric Power Ltd, Aba; Aba Power Ltd; APL Electric Ltd; the area general manager of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN); and the district manager of EEDC.
