Abia State House of Assembly Committee chairman on Power, Public Utilities, and Water, Aaron Uzordike has raised alarm over road accidents in front of Osusu Community/Secondary Schools in Aba.

Uzordike expressed concern about the situation when he spoke to LEADERSHIP in Umuahia, the state capital, calling for all hands to be on deck ” to end the incessant accidents”.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker representing Aba North State constituency said he had also brought the matter before the House during plenary as a Matter of Urgent Public Importance.

“Following this, the House passed a resolution urging the Ministry of Works, the State Universal Basic Education Board, and other relevant agencies to take immediate action on the matter,” the lawmaker said.

He added that, “The resolution required them to prioritise the safety of the pupils, students, and the infrastructure by building speed breakers close to the entrance and a perimeter fence around the school.”

He appealed to the government to build more classrooms in the school to absorb the growing population of pupils and students following its introduction of free compulsory basic education policy.
