The Rivers State House of Assembly has served a notice of alleged misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.
This comes amid rising tensions between the governor and the Assembly over the presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill.
LEADERSHIP recalls that the Assembly denied receiving any letter from Governor Fubara regarding the budget presentation as ordered by the Supreme Court.
In a letter dated March 13, 2025, and addressed to Speaker Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, Fubara had expressed his intention to present the budget on March 19, 2025, or any other day within the month after being locked out of the Assembly last week.
House Committee Chairman on Information, Hon. Enemi Alabo George accused Fubara of frustrating the implementation of the Supreme Court’s judgment on the political crisis in the state, specifically the directive for him to re-present the budget to the majority lawmakers.
LEADERSHIP reports that George challenged Fubara to produce an acknowledged copy of the letter he claimed to have sent to the House.
