The students were awarded scholarships to pursue a three-year nursing and midwifery training through the state scholarship board.

Executive secretary of the Board Hajiya Sa’adatu Yahaya told journalists in Lafia on Tuesday that the gesture was part of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s initiative to revolutionise the health sector in the state for optimal performance.

According to her, the scholarship project was designed to address the shortage of nursing manpower in the state and the country.

She said the students were chosen based on merit, adding that the beneficiaries met all the criteria which qualified them for the scholarship.

The executive secretary said that the students would undergo comprehensive training in nursing and midwifery, noting that they were expected to return to the state to contribute their quota to the development of the healthcare sector. She charged the beneficiaries to study hard and make the state proud.
