Troops Arrest 2 Wanted Terrorists, Hand Over 75 Rehabilitated Others To Borno Gov’t

The Nigerian troops have apprehended two suspected terrorists on its watch list and one gunrunner identified as Shehu Bagiwaye in Gudu and Gusau local government areas of Sokoto and Zamfara States respectively.

The Defence Headquarters disclosed this through the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, while briefing journalists on Thursday.

Maj.-Gen. Kangye added that 75 rehabilitated terrorists were also handed over to the Borno State government and that scores of terrorists were neutralised this week.

He revealed that the rehabilitated persons comprise seven adult males, 34 adult females and 34 children.

He said troops between 10-20 March, 2025 also arrested 23 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen products worth N461,783,868.00

 

“The week also witnessed the handover of rehabilitated terrorists to the Borno State Government,” Kangye said.

 

He stressed that troops within the week recovered 247,629 litres of stolen crude oil and 198,374 litres of illegally refined AGO.

 

Troops also discovered and destroyed 36 crude oil cooking ovens, 42 dugout pits, 28 boats, 33 storage tanks, 65 drums and 21 illegal refining sites within the period.

 

Other items recovered include pumping machines, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones and some vehicles, amongst others.

 

The troops also recovered weapons within the period including AK47 rifles, locally fabricated guns, Dane guns, pump action, locally fabricated pistols and RPG tubes amongst others.

 

The ammunitions recovered include various kinds of 7,62mm ammo as well as RPG bombs.
