The Defence Headquarters said the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria maintain zero tolerance for indiscipline.

The acting director of Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, stated this while reacting to an editorial by a national daily , not LEADERSHIP, following attacks on electricity workers by soldiers in Lagos.

The editorial accused General Christopher Musa and the Service Chiefs of giving tacit support to the growing impunity by men in uniform.

Gusau said, “In all three Services, including the Defence Headquarters, we have military police and Intelligence Corps saddled with the task of thorough investigation and disciplining erring military personnel. They have been doing these with all due diligence, with the overall national interest as their guiding compass.

“The AFN in its resolve to ensure zero tolerance to indiscipline, has a stand by Court Marshals in all its formations to try erring personnel.  This has helped to strengthen the respect for citizens’ fundamental human rights.
