Community Leader, Kidnappers Arrested, AK-47 Rifle, Others Recovered

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested one Victor Edavwe, the youth president of Ekpan community in Uvwie local government area of Delta State, with an AK-47 rifle.

At about 1030 hours on March 15, 2025, the DPO Ekpan Police station, CSP Aliyu Shaba, received information about the suspect acquiring an AK-47 rifle recently.

The DPO mobilised and led operatives to Shrine Street in Ekpan where the suspect, Victor Edavwe was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning.

During interrogation, the suspects gave useful information that corroborated the intelligence earlier gathered and led the operatives to the house of one Efe (surname unknown) A.K.A ‘Eteyomo’ and a search was conducted in the premises during which one AK-47 rifle, one single barrel gun, three cutlasses, two daggers and 44 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition wrapped in a black sack and concealed on the roof of the sitting room were recovered.

 

In a similar operation, the police in Ekpan also, through intelligence gathered, raided some black spots in Jeddo, Okpe local government area of Delta State.

 

On the March 16, 2025, at about 1600hours, the DPO Ekpan Police station while acting on intelligence gathered on the criminal activities of kidnappers, armed robbers around Jeddo axis of Okpe LGA, led operatives of Ekpan police station and arrested one Endurance Oghoghome,38 years of Umukoro street, Blessing Oghoghome, 46 years, one Marvellous Dissy, 43 years, and Jonas Orogho, 38 years.

 

The suspects upon preliminary investigation led the policemen to their hideout in Jeddo community and a search warrant was executed on the premises.

 

During the search one automatic English pump action gun, two locally made single barrel guns, one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, one locally made cut-to-size gun and a live cartridge were recovered.

 

The Command’s spokesperson, SP. Bright Edafe, confirmed that the suspects and exhibits are in custody while the investigation is ongoing.
