Stakeholders Urged To Join Forces Against Measles, Ribella In Abia

Stakeholders in Abia State health sector have been urged to join forces with the government in sensitising the public on the forthcoming measles and ribella vaccination in the state.

The executive secretary of the state Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Kalu Ulu Kalu made the appeal while speaking to LEADERSHIP in Umuahia the state capital.

Ulu Kalu who had earlier met with partners in the health sector of the state noted that the agency had done much to ensure the vaccinations gets to the grassroots.

He explained that the measles campaign is aimed at reducing the outbreak of the disease as recorded in 12 local government areas of the state.

The partners include the state coordinator, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Bernard Egwu and the representative of the World Health Organisation Dr Michael Zucker.

Contributing, the representative of the. UNICEF, Ephraim Chukwu, state director National Orientation Agency Victor Orji and representative of John Snow Incorporated Dr Chidinma Amuzie pledged to provide technical services.

In their presentation the consultant pediatrician FMC Umuahia, Odochi Owurum the state social mobilation officer Chukwudi Ukpabi and monitoring and evaluation officer Victor said the vaccine is for children between nine months and 15 years.
