This was contained in a statement during the formal presentation of an award by the Nigerian Citizens Peace Ambassadors led by its chairman, Professor Yahaya Imam.

The University Don commended the Emir during an event at the monarch’s Nasarawa Mini Palace in Kano, for suspending his planned Sallah Durbar in the interest of peace in the state.

“His Highness has been an advocate of peace, and since the beginning of the Emirate Tussle, he has been doing his best to maintain peace despite all efforts by some unscrupulous elements to disrupt it

“We are here to honour you and to present this award to you on behalf of the Nigerian Citizen Peace Ambassadors.

“You have done so much for peace of our dear state. Suspending the Durbar is an indication that you’re a peaceful man. This is how the late Emir who happened to be your father was,” Prof. Imam stated.

On his part, the Emir Bayero thanked the group for recognising him, assuring them that he would do whatever it takes towards maintaining peace in Kano State.

“Everybody knows that we are peace-abiding people. This is something that we have learnt from our forefathers. We have no any other place than Kano, and we will allow the law to take its course as we believe whatever Allah destined for us will be good on all of us and our dear state.

“I’m calling on the people of Kano to remain calm and peaceful. They should not engage in anything that will disrupt the peace of the state,” Emir Bayero stated.
