Kano Gov’t Sends Delegation To Edo Over Travellers’ Killing

Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the deployment of a high-powered delegation to Edo State to engage with relevant authorities and ensure justice for the victims of Thursday mob killing of hunters in Uromi part of the state.

In a statement issued by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government described the incident as an unfortunate development that has caused great concern to the government and good people of the State.

According to the statement, the delegation was to engage the Edo State Government to identify the perpetrators and collaborate on efforts to bring them to justice.

Additionally, the team will meet with the leadership of the Hausa community in the state to discuss the incident and offer appropriate recommendations.

“The affected individuals, who were on a legitimate adventure traveling from Port Harcourt en route Uromi in Edo State, deserve justice, and the Kano State Government is committed to ensuring that their rights are protected,” the statement read.

The statement urged citizens to remain calm and avoid any actions that could exacerbate tensions, assuring the public that necessary diplomatic and legal measures were being employed to address the situation effectively.

“The government is also in close communication with Edo State Government officials and the security agencies towards ensuring justice for the affected families.

“The government remains steadfast in its commitment to the protection of its people and will continue to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure that justice prevails,” the statement further emphasised.

Kano State Government extends heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the peaceful repose of the victims’ souls.
