No fewer than 14,520 matriculating students of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) have been warned against anti-social behaviours, especially cultism, homosexual indulgence, examination fraud and other vices during the duration of their studentship in the institution.
Addressing the matriculants for the 2024/2025 session at the main campus of the school, Nwaniba, Uyo, the vice chancellor (VC), Prof Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, gave the statistics of the matriculating students to include 11,416 (full time); 1,574 (postgraduate) and 1,530 from the school of continuing education and professional studies.
Prof Ndaeyo stated that the management of the institution has an open door policy and would listen to the academic issues affecting them, urging them to submit to constituted authorities by upholding and promoting the noble ideals, principles and values of the university.
The VC stated that the institution has made facilities and resources available to the students for a successful study in their chosen fields, assuring that the Tertiary Institutions and Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP), was available for their benefit.
“Note that all problems can be resolved amicably without resulting to conflict. Academic work requires peace and order. Crisis leads to loss in property, time and even life; crisis may keep you on the programme longer than necessary. So be mindful of what you do,” he advised.
