Police Arrest 2 Suspected Cable Thieves In Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspected power transmission cable vandals in Damaturu, the state capital.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement disclosed that the Karasuwa Headquarters Divisional Police apprehended on April 12, 2025, the suspects – Yahaya Mustapha, 28, and Bello Yakubu, 38, at about 1pm at.

Abdulkarim said the suspects who are from Takari ward, Gashua Bade local government area of the state were arrested in possession of large quantity of dismantled power transmission cables in Waro Village, Karasuwa local government area.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended while loading the cables onto a tricycle.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Emmanuel Ado has reiterated the Command’s commitment to fighting crime and vandalism, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities or individuals wandering around public properties.

He also commended citizens for providing credible information, which has helped to boost the Command’s efforts.

He added, “If you see something suspicious, say something. Report any unusual activities or individuals to the authorities. Your cooperation is crucial in maintaining public safety and security,” the CP said.
