The paramount king of the Hong people in Adamawa State, the Tol Huba, His Riyal Majesty, Alheri Bulus Nyako has initiated agricultural and solar power schemes designed to revolutionise the agricultural and social life of the people.
The Tol Huba, whose coronation was only two months ago, told newsmen at his palace that he had been quick in attracting commercial agricultural intervention that will employ at least 5,000 of his people and a solar power installation targeting 15 communities across the 14 wards in his chiefdom.
“We are working on a commercial agricultural scheme that will employ 5,000 people who will earn the new national minimum wage,” he said.
According to him, the agricultural scheme will be so large that those to be engaged in it will be processing agricultural produce, and Hong will become a zone for agricultural export.
Stressing that solar-based electricity investors have been among those he has attracted to Hong, the royal father said, “We have gone to all the 14 districts. They have surveyed communities to be served with solar power.”
He added that people with solar power would be powering the identified communities in no distant future.
The traditional ruler, who said his people have been most grateful to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for creating the Huba Chiefdom, said he, as the paramount ruler, is in a hurry to bring development to his people.
“We are optimistic that what we have lost in these past decades, we will make up for in a very short time,” he said.
