The workshop, organized by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Disabled Persons, Kano State, is designed to enhance the capacity of social workers in tackling issues such as poverty, gender-based violence, child protection, and humanitarian crises.

Declaring the event open, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Yakubu Adam Kofarmata, said the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening social welfare systems, empowering communities, and improving the quality of life for vulnerable Nigerians.

“This gathering reflects our dedication to building resilient communities. Without a skilled and motivated workforce, even the best policies cannot achieve their desired impact. That’s why continuous learning, upskilling, and professional development remain our top priorities,” Dr. Kofarmata stated.

Also speaking at the event, the Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Disabled Persons, who was represented by the Director of Administration, Mr. Mohammed Sambo Iliyasu, reiterated the state’s support for social sector development.
